Australia has long been a world leader in the development of coaching and judging programs since the beginning of competitive surfing. Surfing Australia is recognised by the International Surfing Association (ISA) as the leader in the on-going development of coaching and judging programs.

Surfing Australia, in association with its state branches, presents coaching and judging courses annually. Currently there are over 1,600 accredited coaches and over 500 accredited judges registered.

Last year, Surfing Australia delivered its updated Level 2 Coaching Program which has been designed to improve the ability of coaches to deliver “skill and technique” to the growing community of competitive surfers who are seeking to pursue a career as a professional surfer.

Surfing Australia will continue to develop its coaching and judging programs to satisfy the needs of the surfing community. Our programs are constantly being assessed to accommodate any initiatives that will improve the delivery of the programs and their relevance to the surfing industry.
