Justin Holland Brings The Froth For Surfing Australia SUP Camp

Sunday, 24 June 2012

There was no shortage of “froth” at the Justin Holland Surfing Australia SUP camp at Casuarina in northern NSW at the weekend.

Holland, the Australian SUP surfing champion and member of the triumphant TravelSIM Team Australia at the ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championships in Peru, is better known as “Frotha” and brought his infectious enthusiasm for surfing to the camp.

Held at the newly-opened Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre (HPC), the two-day camp included surf sessions with Holland and video analysis. It was the second SUP-specific camp conducted by Surfing Australia following the Jamie Mitchell Camp in March.

“It was exciting turning up this morning as I hadn’t really seen the new HPC and it’s amazing,” Holland said.

“It’s definitely one of the coolest things I have ever seen and I think everyone who is involved in the facility and further camps that will be held here will get massive benefits out of it.

“I think Surfing Australia coming on board with stand-up like this shows they recognise it as a legitimate sport. As the years go on with this type of support, stand-up paddling is going to benefit greatly.

“I’m just excited everyone who turned up is so frothing on surfing stand-ups and it’s great to give them advice and see them improve during the camp.”

The Justin Holland Surfing Australia SUP Camp was proudly supported by the Australian Sports Commission and Suncorp.
