Celebrities and Local Surf Stars Set To Compete For The Kids

Friday, 26 February 2010

IN conjunction with the 2010 Quiksilver Pro, some of Australia’s most generous celebrities are set to team up with a host of Queensland surfing stars as part of the Coastalwatch Surf For Life series – A charitable surfing event supporting the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Kicking off tomorrow (the first official day of the 2010 ASP Quiksilver Pro) on the Gold Coast (Queensland, Australia), the semi-serious event will feature the likes of Ky Hurst, Tania Zaetta, Gary Belcher, Paul Burt and Liz Cantor to name just a few.

Joining the celebrities in the waves will be surfing stars Shaun Gossmann (Queensland, Australia), Shane Bevan (Queensland, Australia), Jay Phillips (Queensland, Australia) and Jack Freestone (Queensland, Australia) as well as a horde of up-and-coming junior stars.

A good time in the sun and surf will be the order of the day, however the event also aims to raise as much money as possible for the tireless work of one of Australia’s most highly regarded charities – the Starlight Children’s Foundation,

The public are encouraged to attend to the event (which will be based near the Quiksilver Pro site at Snapper Rocks).

Partnering Coastalwatch and the Starlight Children’s Foundation in the event, is the Quiksilver Foundation, which is a non-profit organization committed to benefiting and enhancing the quality of life for communities of boardriders across the world through supporting environmental, educational, health and youth-related projects.
