Paul Burt Wins The Charitable Coastalwatch Surf For Life Event On The Gold Coast!

Gold Coast Queensland, Saturday 27th February, 2010: MANY Queenslanders tune in daily to watch Paul Burt deliver his weather report on Chanel Nine, However today, Burt drew an audience to watch him hit the waves at Rainbow Bay (Queensland, Australia) as part of the Coastalwatch Surf For Life series – A charitable surfing event supporting the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Surfing alongside the likes of Olympic gold medallist Ken Wallace, iron-man Ky Hurst, Chanel 7’s Liz Cantor and a host of local celebrities and surfers, Burt took out the event in style which was held in conjunction with the 2010 Quiksilver Pro.

Split up into teams and helping the celebrities in the waves was some of Queensland’s top surfers including Dale Richards (Queensland, Australia), Shaun Gossmann (Queensland, Australia), Jack Freestone (Queensland, Australia), Mitch Parkinson (Queensland, Australia) and Jay Phillips (Queensland, Australia) who scored a perfect 10-point ride.

Burt and his team of hot up-and-coming junior surfers Soli Bailey and Leo Fiovraranti proved too much for their rivals in the final, which was made up of Mitch Parkinson (the younger cousin of ASP World Tour competitor Joel Parkinson), iron-man Ky Hurst who impressed many with his skill on the waves and Chanel 7’s Liz Cantor who put all television network rivalries with Burt aside in the entertaining final.

A fantastic atmosphere spread across the event site as surfers, celebrities and the general public donated their time and money, which goes towards the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Partnering Coastalwatch and the Starlight Children’s Foundation in the event, is the Quiksilver Foundation, which is a non-profit organization committed to benefiting and enhancing the quality of life for communities of boardriders across the world through supporting environmental, educational, health and youth-related projects.
