Wednesday, 30 June 2010

The NSW Open Surfmasters Titles is ready to fire, with competition to kick off tomorrow.

With ten state titles up for grabs, the best 200 age surfers in NSW battle it out over four days, as competitors fight it out for a birth at the Country Energy Australian Surf Festival to take place in August.

Led by a crop of professional stars, from past and present, including former ASP World Tour surfer Toby Martin (Dee Why, NSW), Pro Junior stars Sam Lendrum (Nords Wharf, NSW), Ryan Callinan (Merewether, NSW), , Jake Sylvester (Bar Beach, NSW) and reigning Open champion's Perth Standlick (Bondi, NSW) and Brittani Nichol (Cabarita, NSW), the NSW Surfmasters sees surfers from each of the ten Surfing NSW regions competing for state supremacy.

Looking to thwart the hopes of other regions will be a host of Illawarra and South Coast talent.

Former ASP World Tour stalwarts Jake Spooner (Bulli, NSW) and Terry Richardson (East Corrimal, NSW) will join the likes of Illawarra Regional Champion Nick Squires (North Wollongong, NSW), Jordi Watson (Currarong, NSW), Rhys Bombaci (Kiama, NSW) and Chris Homer (Warilla, NSW), while Skye Burgess (Lake Heights, NSW) will be battling it out in the Open Women's division.

The NSW Open Surfmasters decides ten state titles including the Open, Over 28, 35 and 40 year's Men divisions.

In addition to these divisions will be the running of the Over 45 and 50 year's Men divisions; the Open, Over 28 and 35 year's Women competitions.
