Stormy seas for seniors
Semi stormy surf conditions were not enough to deter eleven seniors from the southern area hitting the waves at Southport Beach last weekend.
A solid one metre swell proved tiring from some but a strong sense of achievement battling the elements for all.
“Stand up surfing has been on my bucket list for a long time” said 77 year old Keith Longworth from Christies Beach. “I’ve lived on the NSW coast and Tasmania as I love the beach. I bought my own wetsuit and body board so this is a great opportunity to try stand up surfing with coaches to help me along”.
Free Surf lessons with all equipment supplied will be available at Southport Beach on Saturday 8th , 15th , 22nd and 29th October from 1-3pm for male and female 50 years and over.
Intending participants need to book asap as places are filing quickly.
Bookings are essential for the allocation of surf coaches and equipment. Please make your booking by contacting Surfing SA on phone/fax 8384 1126 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
