One of the areas that I see many developing surfers having problems with is assuming the set body position at the start of some manoeuvres. The issue I am talking about here is the locked arm positions that surfers assume as they drop down the face to perform a backhand bottom turn, or drive out onto the wave face when setting up a forehand cutback. Surfers who are proficient in this performance area drop down the wave face and assume a body position that could be described as a “platform” off which the “drive” of the turn is applied.
