Welcome to Australia's island state.
Tasmania has the reputation of the coolest and cleanest water in Australia, we also have some of the worlds most challenging, isolated and uncrowded waves along our three major coastlines.
In 2013 Surfing Tasmania provides the competition framework for the sport of surfing in Tasmania, and assists with the organisation and running of other selected events.
We will run 8 to 10 events in 2013 in all corners of the state which produces State Champions in all age divisions that will represent Tasmania at the Grommet Titles, Open Surfmasters and National Longboard Titles.
Our events cater from the under 12's to the Legends who must be over 50 to compete, in longboard, bodyboard, shortboard and standup paddle board disciplines.
Tassie events are made of great weekends away surfing in places like Bruny Island, Scamander, the Tasman Peninsula and Marrawah - truly unique locations, with great camaraderie. You'll need to pack clothing for all weathers, as well as be prepared to not stay in touch with your mobile phone - reception can be dodgy in many areas of the State. Besides, you'll be too busy soaking up the natural beauty of Tassie to worry too much about the 'outside world'!
Last November Surfing Tasmania again successfully hosted the Soundwave Australian Junior Surfing Titles which were held at Nubeena on the Tasmania Peninsula. Surfing Tas. last hosted this event in 2005.
Surfing Tasmania is also in strong liaison with other ocean interest and user groups to help preserve and protect Tasmania's unspoiled ocean environments for all to enjoy now and into the future .
