Red Herring Surf Bruny Island Junior and longboards

Bruny island Longboards style at Cloudy bay

Monday, 18 January 2010

In boost to the Tasmanian competitive Longboard scene, the Bruny Island Longboard Classic drew the largest field in several years to any longboard event in Tasmania including a promising Junior field.

Offshore 1 metre conditions allowed competitors to perform a mixture of modern and classic longboard moves, highlights included Kane Mcleods nose riding and Dustin Hollicks grab rail carves.

Dustin Hollicks first outing on a longboard paid off with an innovative approach narrowly edging out Kane Mcleod in the opens, longboarding stalwart Roy Forbes took out the over 40's , and Claire Mcmanus the Open Womens.

With further state rounds on the east coast and in the south arm area, state team selection is going to be very competitive.
