Junior Season kicks of at Red Herring Surf Bruny Island junior

The 2010 Tasmania's junior competitive season kicked off in style at the Red Herring surf junior with clean 1 metre conditions greeting competitors on Day one, though the day ended with the swell rising , thunder , lightning and an "inch" of rain falling in the last hour of the day  competition .

Standout performers on the first day included Sophie Burke (Falmouth), Zoe Gray (Marrawah), , Kyle Cooper (Lauderdale), Gerome Bramich ( Scamander) with 2009 Junior holder Hamish Renwick (Sandford) stamping his mark with successive heat wins to progress to the Juniors Semis..

The storm overnight , pushed solid 1.5 metre lines into middle bay , Hamish Renwick continued his form eclipsing his opponents in his semi with a polished attack on the long walling rights.

In his first year in the 16 boys  Ned Bramich (Scamander) scored 9.5 for a  solid backhand barrel ride , followed by a series of vertical backhand snaps.

With the tide dropping and swell becoming more inconsistent  finalist found mastering conditions challenging , Kelly Nordstrom (Cremorne) 8.5 in the 14 boys ensured his win, Gerome Bramich took out his maiden 16 boys crown at Bruny.

The 18 girls winner was determined on a count back with Sophie Burke taking the title, Hamish Renwick powerful attack on the long walling rights in the 18 boys final ensured his victory.

The next event on the Tasmanian Junior surfing circuit is the South Coast Junior February 20./21
