Paul Johannesen Memorial draws Tassies' best open surfers

Benn Richardson (Scamander) will be the man to watch at this weekend's fourth annual
Paul Johannesen Memorial Competition. the unique event is fully mobile across all surfspots of South Arm and the Tasman Peninsula chasing the best surf possible..

Fresh from a a successful campaign at this years' $145000 Oneill Cold Water Classic Tasmania WQS event, , Richardson is full of confidence. "I'm really hungry for a win as I have never won this contest before‘, I will have to be right on my game with the challenge of the states best  the Open Men and some real form Juniors.".

With the smell of victory of in his reach Richardson will have to overcome two time Paul Johannesen Trophy winner and 2009 state title holder Dustin Hollick also a starter, as well as previous winner, and current state ratings leader, Jy Johannesen.

Long range forecasts are showing a good size swell for the weekend with favourable winds for the finals forecast on Sunday.

Competitors will need to meet at the Foreshore Tavern at Lauderdale at 8am on Saturday,  spectators are urged to call the contest hotline on 0407 488 495 to find out where the event is taking place. So get down to the beach and check out the State's best in action.

The Paul Johannesen Memorial Contest is proudly presented by Sportsco Kingston, La Porchetta Pizza Restaurant, Red Herring Surf, Billabong, Nike, Shapers Australia and Surfing Tasmania.

Presentation is at La Porchetta in Nth Hobart at 6pm Sunday night.
