Sophie Bourke (Four Mile Creek) took out the 18 girls and after dominating junior female contests in Tasmania in the past few years, Sophie entered the 18 Boys division to gain more competition experience, and only narrowly missed out on making the final being eliminated in the semis.
“The Rip Curl East Coast Junior Challenge 2010 will be remembered as one with numerous highlights, with consistent 1-1.5 metre right handers at North Shelley and one of the highest standards of junior surfing in the events fifteen years history, with everyone seeming to be surfing to the new criteria which requires commitment and combinations of radical manoeuvre's this goes well for the future of Tasmanian surfing as these young surfers progress through the ranks. “ Nigel Wallace Contest Director
