East Coast Classic

East Coast Fires with solid conditions and perfect days

Wednesday, 19 May 2010

Underground big wave charger and former state champ Ben Richardson took out the East Coast classic in style in solid offshore 1.5 metre conditions at Dark Hollow., Richardson who had been plagued by injuries this year, made amends. In a tightly fought final Richardson edged out a rampaging Luke Bugg , Zeb Critchlow and tassie new comer Rupa Gibbons.

With over 2.5 metres of swell at dawn on day contest director John Hoult put the contest on hold, trying to find a venue handling the swell., " the usual scenario of late has been finding a venue with waves , not trying to find a venue that is handling the swell" John Hoult .

Whilst the event went on hold,  competitors relished the solid 3 metre conditions at Outside Fourmile, As the swell moderated the event was called on at Four Mile with solid offshore 1.5 metre lefts, and a very summery day.

A big thank you goes out to Christian Surfers Tasmania who put on a great BBQ throughout the event
