ASPIRING world champions from across the country received the royal treatment last week with the Layne Beachley Surf Camp coming to a close at the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre at Casuarina in northern New South Wales.Seven-time ASP Women's World Champion Beachley spent the past week sharing her world title recipes with fourteen fortunate HPC campers, who consumed her priceless knowledge and experiences from her long spanning professional career in hope to potentially one day join surfing royalty, or to simply further develop their own surfing skills.
"I am proud and honoured to have a Layne Beachley Surf Camp," said Beachley.
"It is great to lend a hand to a group of willing and eager female surfers and share my knowledge and experiences that I have gained over the last twenty years of my professional career."
"Coming to a High Performance centre is an important experience to a future champion, or to any athlete. It provides an essential stepping stone to the development of their professional careers and allows them to achieve their goals earlier in life."
"Any athlete who gets the opportunity to come to one of Surfing Australia's High Performance Surf Camps should make the most of it," added Beachley.
HPC Manager James Eggington is extremely plaased with the success of the weeklong surf camp which continues to cement the HPC as Australia's peak surf training facility.
"Over the past five days, this group of fourteen girls have been put through a cutting edge HPC program," he said.
"The girls have had a great time and have shone through with flying colours. We look forward to monitoring them in the future as they progress into professional athletes."
The five day Layne Beachley Camp which ran from June 14-18 was organised by Surfing Australia's HPC and focused on contest strategy, skills, technique and included video coaching, fitness evaluation, judging and equipment seminars, breath enhancement training, nutrition and mental preparation techniques.
Not only do HPC camps provide elite coaching but Surfing Australia's HPC is extremely pleased to be offering surfers the opportunity to meet and surf with Australia's best surfers.
