Surfing Australia

Team Australia

Every year the opportunity arises for all surfers globally – to surf for their country in the worlds only two team based surfing events – The ISA World Junior Surfing Championships and the ISA World Surfing Games.

The event is likened to the “Olympics of Surfing” and is the only opportunity for surfers to Surf for their country. In the case of Team Australia campaigns in 2009, the only opportunity for Australian surfers to wear the green and gold, rally behind the national flag,  and do their bit for the country in the quest for the prestigious mantle of the “Worlds Best Surfing Nation”.

Team Australia will be competing on the world stage twice in 2008.

1. Our National Junior team (as advertised above) - In Ecuardor at the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Championships in March/April.

2. Our National Open Team in Costa Rica at the Billabong ISA World Surfing Games in July/August.

Both our Junior Team Australia and our Open Team Australia will defend the championship crowns they won last year.

Given the fantastic achievements of Australian surfers in 2008, we are expecting even greater attention to be focussed on our Team and its high profile members.
