SKULLCANDY OZ GROM OPEN PRES. BY VISSLA TO LIGHT UP LENNOX HEAD THIS WEEK.

The Skullcandy Oz Grom Open pres. by Vissla will once again land in Lennox Head in what looks to be an action-packed week of surfing.

The six-day event will run from 13 July –18 July and will comprise of a World Surf League (WSL) sanctioned Pro Junior Qualifying Series (JQS) event as well as an elite competition for promising grommets in the 12, 14 and 16 year age divisions.

In a similar vein to preceding years - where the event has attracted surfers from ten different countries - a full international field is again expected in 2018 with surfers coming from as far away as Europe, USA and Japan to make up a field of more than 220 surfers across all divisions.

Currently sitting in the top spot on the WSL Australasian 2018 Men's Junior rankings, Callum Robson (Evans Head, NSW) is looking to get a decent lead when the event kicks off on Friday.

“I can’t wait for the Skullcandy Oz Grom Open pres. by Vissla this week,” said Robson. “I’ve set the goal to qualify for the 2018 World Junior Championships, so I really hope I can post a decent result and cement my position in the top-five.”

2018 marks the seventh year that Skullcandy has been the naming-rights partner of the event.

Skullcandy Australia GM David Chegwyn said: “This event has a great history of 26 years and Skullcandy has been the headline sponsor, for now, seven years. This year we are even more stoked to be running a WSL Pro Junior again. We are extremely proud of our involvement in the Skullcandy Oz Grom Open. The key component for our company is to support junior surfing in this region, and beyond, with so many local, national and international competitors. The guys and girls at Le-Ba Boardriders make this a really great event in so many ways.”

Vissla’s John Mossop shared Chegwyn’s sentiments: “We’re thrilled to continue our support of grassroots surfing through events like the Skullcandy Oz Grom Open pres. by Vissla. 2018 will be the third year we’ve supported this event and we can’t wait to see some of the world’s most promising juniors and grommets as they strive for a result in this prestigious event.”

All event divisions will be broadcast live on skullcandyozgromopen.com.au
