Judging development courses are recognised as the only endorsed judging accreditation course by the Australian Sports Commission and the International Surfing Association.
The International Judging and Officiating Course is step one in becoming a professional surfing judge and Surfing NSW and Surfing Australia are committed to providing a clear development pathway for our aspiring and dedicated experienced officials.
As a prerequisite for the higher accreditation levels the course participant must provide 20 hours of judging experience under a qualified Surfing Australia Head Judge. On completion of these hours and finalising the necessary paper work/diary sheets course participants will be accredited with a level two State Judge qualification. Level two judges can apply for the level three International Judging qualification at any time with documentation of 100 hours of judging experience under a qualified Surfing Australia Head Judge.
To maintain your judging qualification you must be registered each year (January) the cost of registration renewal is:
- $25 for a Level 1 club Judge
- $35 for a Level 2 state Judge
- $45 for a Level 3 international Judge
Upon renewing your judging registration each January, the judge will receive their new judges pack which includes: Current rule book, updated personalised and a numbered judging ID card.
Surfing NSW can also run courses for clubs, schools or community groups wishing to register a group (min 12 people required) of candidates. A minimum of two months notice is required for scheduling.
