Chief Executive Officer
The Board of Directors appointed Adam Chief Executive Officer of Surfing Queensland in 2014.
Prior to commencing as CEO, Adam was an integral component of the management structure managing multi-million dollar event budgets and the staging of over 200 events throughout his tenure as Surfing Queensland's Events Manager.
Adam has a Bachelor of Business Management degree and over 12 years experience in sport management and surfing industries. His commitment and thorough knowledge of the organisation see’s Adam drive and deliver the commercial and strategic priorities of the organisation.
Adam has demonstrated track record to navigate through complex issues. Prioritising, managing and delivering outcomes that fulfill the commercial and strategic priorities, as well having an in depth understanding of corporate governance is testament to Adam’s success.
Adam is an avid surfer who is passionate about the sport of surfing and his mandate is to provide the very best opportunities for everyone who wants to be involved at any level within the sport of surfing.
During the last 20 years Alan has held General Manager and CFO roles across a diverse range of industries as well as 3 years in Local Government as the CEO for the Shire of Shark Bay. (Alan was the first person in Western Australia to be appointed the Chief Executive Officer of a Local Government from private enterprise, which required Ministerial Approval). His experience spans across many industries and his leadership skills come from managing companies with turnover in excess of $100 million and significant staff levels (450). Alan’s formal qualifications (3) include a Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy), Graduate Diploma in Marketing and a Diploma in Technical Analysis.
Dev commenced his role with Surfing Queensland in 2014 as Events & Communications Coordinator after completing a Bachelor of Business in 2013 and has since been heavily immersed in the successful activation of events across all levels, from grass roots through to Surfing Queensland’s flagship events – The Quiksilver & Roxy Pro. Having stepped up to take on the role of Event Manager in 2017, Dev now oversees the organisation’s entire event portfolio as well as servicing sponsors and corporate partners to ensure all deliverables are met.
With his profound involvement in Surf Life Saving, Dev’s experience and managerial skills in surf sports has proven to be an important asset in the activation of the 30 plus events on the Surfing Queensland calendar.
John is the newest member of the Surfing Queensland Events Team and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table in marketing and media.
John completed a Bachelor of Business in 2014 majoring in Marketing before working at a local marketing agency on the Gold Coast where he managed a broad range of clients including global sporting brands. This experience combined with a strong passion for surfing has assisted in the successful promotion of Surfing Queensland and it’s events throughout 2017.
Hamish joined the Surfing Queensland team mid year in 2017 as a member of the accounts department. Before commencing his role with Surfing Queensland, Hamish graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Commerce double majoring in Finance and Marketing and has spent years working in the surf industry. His previous experience has helped his successful transition to Surfing Queensland where he assists the General Manager in managing accounts, providing financial reports and overseeing the companies income and expenditures.
Hamish has a strong passion for the sport of surfing. Growing up surfing in Burleigh Heads and competing in Surfing Queensland events as well as Pro Juniors, Hamish has previously represented the State at the Australian Titles as a grom.
Marketing & Partnerships Manager
Kelly joined the team in mid 2017 and is responsible for overseeing all marketing & partnerships that are formed with Surfing Queensland. Whether it be Government Funding, Sponsorships or Grants, Kelly ensures all our partners’ deliverables are being met and working on a daily basis to see where Surfing Queensland and our partners can find opportunity for growth.
With well over a decade’s experience in the marketing, strategic partnering and public relations, as well as project and event management, Kelly has left her mark on a range of high profile organisations in a variety of industries.
From the Marketing Manager for Surfers Paradise Marina, Sea World Water Sports, Domaine, Fitness First QLD, Fitlink Global and Director of several of her own companies. Kelly has mastered the complete art and craft of brand recognition, creating and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies to any budget, and executing inspiring campaigns she has grown strong strategic relationships, business partners and community groups.
Erin is the most recent member of the Surfing Queensland Team, joining in early 2018 as the Office Administrator. Erin’s role at Surfing Queensland is to ensure the smooth operation of the office, in conjunction with events administration. Surfing Queensland is an ideal fit for Erin as she has an avid passion for both the ocean and the sports management industry. Coupled with this Erin has a strong background and knowledge of the surf industry being a competitive surfer for over seven years.
Prior to commencing with Surfing Queensland, Erin’s work experience has amassed from a sporting background, from over five years surf coaching to four years’ experience working as an administration officer in the aquatic industry where she has gained strong customer service and administration experience. Erin has an avid passion for events, recently completing a Bachelor of Business majoring in Events Management and Marketing at Griffith University. This knowledge combined with her previous work experience and knowledge in the surf industry has already assisted in her smooth transition into this role.
