Round 2 of Woolworths Junior Surfing State Titles completed in fun conditions at the Bay, Middleton

Ruka Taite and Grace Knight took the blue ribbon U18 win’s at the Bay, Middleton today. The Grom’s were treated to fun 2-3 ft surf with light winds all day. Ruka Taite saved the best for last dropping an 8.5 in the final, the highest scoring wave of the day. Grace Knight sealed the Under18 Girls title by taking her second victory in the 3 comp series.


The Under 16 Boys went to Harry Green who surfed solidly all day, also placing second in the Under 18 Boys. Imogen Elliot took the Under 16 girls banking the title for 2018 taking back to back wins.


The Under 14 Girls went to young Maia Taite and the Under 14 Boys to King Cairns. These 2 surfers both under 10 are clearly ones to watch in the future surfing way beyond their years.


Round 2 of the Woolworths State Titles presented by Air Asia and ‘We Are Feel Good Inc’ forms part of the inaugural Southern Surf Festival at Middleton. For more information on the festival head over to the webpage

The 2018 Woolworths SA Junior Surfing Titles forms a key part of the Surfing SA development pathway and attracts the states best surfers who are all seeking qualification to the Australian Junior Surfing Titles, which will take place in South Australia later this year.


Future Australian surfing champions will receive further help to ride the wave to success, with Woolworths expanding its commitment to the sport to include Surfing Australia’s six affiliated State branches Woolworths State Junior Surfing Titles, with 18 events to be run nationally across 6 States in 2017/18.


At each event, Woolworths will connect its store teams with the sport and celebrate the next generation of champions in local communities in each state.
