SA's top groms to converge on the Yorke Peninsula for the 2018 Woolworths Junior State Titles

South Australia’s best junior surfers are set to converge on the Yorke Peninsula this weekend for the opening event of the 2018 Woolworths South Australian Junior Surfing Titles presented by HIF, We Are Feel Good Inc and Ocean and Earth.

 

Surfers aged from 8 through to 17 will unite from all corners of the state for the first of three events which will determine who will represent Surfing SA at the Surf Dive 'n Ski Australian Junior Surfing Titles to be held in South Australia later this year.

 

Surfers from as far as Kangaroo Island will be competing in the first event of the season.

 

Leading the local charge in the blue ribbon Under-18 Boys division will be Harry Green who at only 14 years of age has already got 9 U/14 and U/16 State Titles under his belt.Others to watch will be local surfer Digby Tooze, Ruka Taite (Seaford), Noah Baillie (Victor) and Mallie Brauer (Middleton)

 

Reigning Under-18 Girls State Champion Dimity Payne (Port Elliot), Imogen Elliot (Seaford) as well as local surfers Aurora Furbank and Grace Knight, will headline an impressive field of females attending the event.

 

Future Australian surfing champions will receive further help to ride the wave to success, with Woolworths expanding its commitment to the sport to include Surfing Australia’s six affiliated State branches Woolworths State Junior Surfing Titles, with 18 events to be run nationally across 6 States in 2017/18.

 

At each event, Woolworths will connect its store teams with the sport and celebrate the next generation of champions in local communities in each state. 

 

 

Forecasts look great for the weekend with plenty of options on the wave rich Yorke Peninsula.

Action set to commence at 7:00am on Saturday with finals on Sunday.
