Yorkes Classic 2017 - Maxy bags another title

Sunday the 1st of October 2017 delivered pumping 3-4ft surf at Chinaman’s for the 34th Yorke’s Classic surf event. The standard of surfing at this years event was unreal and spectators were treated to a fantastic display of SA’s finest as well as some great interstate talent. It was great to see a large contingent of grom’s competing at this years event giving the older crew a run for their money and getting in some much needed heat practice before they head off to nationals later this year.

The day belonged to Max Longhurst who took the event out followed closely by Brett Edwards, Darcy Crump and Mickey Newport. The final was a high scoring affair with all four surfers dropping scores in the excellent range.

The Over 45 final saw Squizzy, Longy, Alby and Howie take to the water. The waves turned on, everyone ripped and the title eventually went to Mr consistent Gary “Howie” Haworth.

Wayne Gurney was awarded the “Spirit of Yorke’s Award” in memory of Christine Cox for all the effort he has put into the Yorke’s Classic, Bootleg Boardriders Club and all his support at Surfing SA events. Well deserved Wayne!

A massive thanks must go out to all our sponsors for 2017:
