Coasting: SUP for Women returns to Ballarat due to unprecedented demand

After an incredible level of demand from Ballarat ladies, Coasting: SUP for Women is heading back to Lake Wendouree to teach females how to Stand Up Paddleboard.

An initiative of VicHealth, Coasting is aiming to get women more active through the exciting new activity of Stand Up Paddleboarding.

Coasting Program Manager, Kim Byrne is stoked to be heading back to the picturesque Lake Wendouree.

"It's great to see the women in regional Victoria, such as Ballarat, coming along and having fun with Stand Up Paddleboarding.”

“There are so many inland waterways for them to go paddling and Coasting is a great way for them to learn the techniques for them to begin their journey with a new and emerging activity of SUP.”

“Our first time to Ballarat was a sell out and we all had such a great time laughing and enjoying the time we had paddling together, with like minded women, I can't wait to do it all again."

Stand Up Paddle surfboards are much longer, wider and more buoyant than 'normal' surfboards, allowing you to effortlessly balance on them and propel yourself along the water with the paddle.

SUP is a relaxing, low impact and easy to learn activity that is a fun way to enjoy the outdoors and water.

Each participant will learn how to SUP on flat water in a fun, safe and female-friendly environment. The program is led by experienced Surfing Victoria SUP coaches.

Cost of a 60 minute session is $35 and includes board hire and instruction from Surfing Victoria coaches.

Sessions will be held on the 17th March at Lake Wendouree. Interested participants can register via www.coastingsup.com

Coasting: SUP for Women is part of VicHealth’s Active Women and Girls for Health and Wellbeing program which aims to get more females active across the state in both regional and metro areas.
