The 2018 SAE Group Australian Surf Festival Set For A Start On The Tweed Coast

CASUARINA/NSW (July 17th/2018): The 2018 SAE Group Australian Surf Festival is set for a start from August 10th on the Tweed Coast with more than 400 competitors from across the country set to compete in four disciplines over seventeen days of world-class surfing.

With a multitude of excellent surf breaks on offer, catering to all divisions, the Tweed Coast makes for the perfect venue.

Local Men’s shortboard competitor Jay Phillips loves having the SAE Group Australian Surf Festival in his backyard and is looking forward to seeing what the ocean produces for this year’s festival, saying: “ The Tweed Coast is a wave rich area with fantastic point and beach breaks and it’s all in the luck of the swells so we will see.”

“It’s a great opportunity for local athletes to get amongst the best in Australia and represent not only their region but their state.”

Member for Tweed Geoff Provest said: “It’s July and the winter sun is shining, the ocean is still warm and the waves look promising; a perfect way to welcome everyone to the SAE Group 2018 Australia Surf Festival. Whether you choose a longboard, a shortboard or a bodyboard, the Tweed Coast is ready and waiting for the competition to begin. As the Member for Tweed, I welcome you all to the region for another successful festival.”

Destinations Tweed CEO Rose Wright said: “The partnership with Surfing NSW for the 2018 SAE Australian Surf Festival is part of our ongoing strategy to promote the Tweed Coast as the leading region to host an array of surf-related events.”

“We see events like this one as integral to the destination & it’s growth. We welcome competitors from far & wide to extend their stay & immerse themselves in the Tweed-nature, art & food experiences.”
