Tradies Surf Challenge to re-launch with the help of WorkSafe Victoria this weekend
Jan Juc, VIC/AUS (Tuesday 9th October 2018): The Tradies Surf Challenge is set to re-launch this coming weekend on the Surf Coast with the help of WorkSafe Victoria.
The event will bring together tradies from throughout Victoria for a one day event that will crown the top tradie surfer in the state.
Surfing Victoria CEO, Adam Robertson is stoked to have WorkSafe on board for the event.
“We are proud to be partnering with WorkSafe Victoria for the 2018 Tradies Challenge,” Mr Robertson said.
“With their recent move to Geelong, it’s fantastic to see their willingness to engage with the local community.
“When we last ran this event in 2014, the response from local tradies was great. We can’t wait to run the event again alongside WorkSafe.”
Including divisions for Open, Masters and Pairs surfers, it is expected that the event will attract over 50 tradies.
Director Community and Stakeholders for WorkSafe, Ashley Clearihan said the Tradies Surf Challenge was a great way for the organisation to support the local community and promote the importance of workplace health and safety to tradies from all over the state.
“The ability to go for a surf before or after work is yet another reason why staying safe and healthy at work is so important,” Ashley said.
‘’The popularity of surfing in the Geelong region is not lost on WorkSafe, and we’re proud to be a part of the re-launch of such a great event.”
The WorkSafe Tradies Challenge will be held on October 13 at Jan Juc.
The WorkSafe Tradies Challenge is presented by Fagg’s Mitre 10 & Belmont Timber and is supported by Coastalwatch, City to Surf Mobile Café, Air Asia, Kings Cars and Surfing Victoria.
